RuSean Hardman began his love affair with the wonderful English Setter breed in 1989 as a junior in high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Raised with English Pointers as a youngster, he began training and hunting with them all over the Sooner State with his father, Bill Hardman.
After watching some of the outstanding dogs that his father owned, RuSean began to wonder what other breeds were out there. It was then that he saw the English Setter. “I fell in love with the looks at first sight, and set out to find and own my first English Setter,” he said.
His first Setter was named Jodi Mae and the moment he laid eyes on her, “I was lovestruck,” he said. Her personality, drive to hunt, and willingness to please convinced Hardman he’d made the right decision. “I believe that dog would’ve driven the truck home for me if she could,” he jokes. “She just loved to be with me and do what I asked.”
So taken with Jodi Mae was Hardman, that he returned to that same breeder two years later and purchased another pup, this one he named “Royal Flush.” It was this second pup that convinced Hardman that this was the breed for him. “I’ve done my best to produce and keep in my kennel an English Setter,” he said.
Hardman continues to produce champion lines of quality bird dogs and frequently has puppies available for sale, from proven bloodlines and proven parents. To inquire about Hardman Kennels, feel free to contact us.
